Required Documents

Who Can Apply?

Anyone from a country outside the United States who plans to visit for tourism, medical treatment, or to visit friends and family can apply for a B-2 visa. Individuals from Visa Waiver Program (VWP) countries may not need a B-2 visa for short visits.

How to Apply

Pay the Visa Fee

  • Pay the non-refundable visa application fee. Retain the receipt as proof of payment.

Schedule Appointments

  • Biometrics Appointment: schedule the Biometrcis and Visit the nearest Visa Application Center (VAC) to provide fingerprints and photographs.
  • Interview Appointment: Schedule an interview at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate.

Attend the Biometrics Appointment

  • Bring your passport, DS-160 confirmation page, and Appointment Confirmation. Your fingerprints and photograph will be taken.

Attend the Visa Interview

  • Bring all required documents, including your passport, DS-160 confirmation page, , and any supporting documents. Be prepared to answer questions about your travel plans and ties to your home country.

Terms and Conditions

  • Validity: Typically granted for up to 10 years, with a maximum stay of six months per visit.
  • Extension: Possible but must be applied for before the current visa expires.
  • Employment: Not permitted on a B-2 visa.
  • Overstaying: Can result in future visa ineligibility.
