US nationals do not require an entry visa to Costa Rica. However, they must have a current valid passport and a return ticket to exit Costa Rica within 180 days. (Either to return to your country or to go to another country).
If a person holds a multiple entry Canada visa, he/she does not require Costa Rican visa. If a person has legal residence card in US, Canada or EU countries, he/she does not require Costa Rican visa.
Though you may not need a visa, the following is still required to enter the country: A passport must be valid for at least the duration of your stay and ideally for three months from the moment you enter Costa Rica. If you require a visa, your passport must be valid for 6 months from the moment of your entry.
